The University of Louisville’s ARNA (Adaptive Robot Nursing Assistant) Robot is a built-from-scratch machine under the direction of UofL’s LARRI (Louisville Automation and Robotics Research Institute.) While its primary function is for nursing assistance and walking assistance, this robot’s algorithms were reprogrammed during the COVID-19 outbreak to safely disinfect door handles in a hospital setting. This reprogramming was done in collaboration across KY NSF EPSCoR KAMPERS research pillars. Stay tuned for the feature video highlighting this work!
In this video clip, Dr. Sumit Das, a former roboticist at LARRI, gives KY NSF EPSCoR a tour of the features and methodologies of ARNA.
