Enviropods Announces New Student Instructors as it Begins A Busy Year Two

As our Enviropods program hits year two, we’d like to recognize the 2026 Enviropods Instructors who are assisting Summer Brown and Ryan Thigpen in teaching how earth and environmental scientists research hazards in Kentucky like flooding, landslides, tornadoes, earthquakes, drought and water quality concerns.

Emelia Harris is the most senior of the students working on Enviropods this summer. Emelia is a grad student working on her MS in Earth and Environmental Sciences at UK focusing on how water quality changes during rainfall-induced flood events. She’s been working on updating the earthquake and landslide content for this year and will be leading the flood chemistry and warning system activities at our camps this summer!

Malachi Beesley, undergraduate, is an Earth and Environmental Sciences major at UK. He’s been working on preparations for our new drone exercise and will be taking the lead on some of the flooding and severe weather portions of the camps this summer.

Leah Greenberg is starting her MS this fall in Earth and Environmental Sciences at UK. She has many years of experience working with kids through 4-H, so brings a lot of fun and an arsenal of games to our camps this summer!

Stay tuned for more updates as our Enviropods team is busy this summer hosting camps at public libraries. Schedule below:
