The newest cohort of CLIMBS Learning Hub Scholars recently came together for an immersive Field Day hosted by Dr. Kristy Hopfensperger at Northern Kentucky University and Dr. Chris Lorentz at Thomas More University.
Students explored environmental research through a hands-on macroinvertebrate bioindicator activity, connected with faculty mentors and peers, and visited the Thomas More University Biology Field Station along the Ohio River to experience field-based research in action.
“These field days help develop and cultivate a sense of community and collaboration among the CLIMBS partners,” said Professor Chris Lorentz. “The students are excited to meet their peers and faculty from other schools and are inspired in their own work.”
The day showcased the power of experiential learning while introducing students to the statewide network of mentors, facilities, and research opportunities that make CLIMBS unique.
